Making A Hand-Made Book Workshop with Minny Lee

In this two (2) day workshop, students will learn how to make various types of books: basic instant, accordion fold, pocket accordion, self-hinged accordion with a cover, single signature chapbook using a three-hole pamphlet stitch and a five- hole pamphlet stitch. Asian bookbinding methods, such as stab binding and tortoise-shell binding will also be taught. No previous bookmaking experience is required.

These responsive photographs are reminiscent of time and place, framing a perspective of people to the landscape they live within. This collection of work from individual artists impart insight of the social participation, conscious and unconscious, with place. Each image inquires how the human element develops or poses obstacles for the dissemination of culture and visceral knowledge of land, our collective home.

The 30th Annual Young at Art 2018 is a juried student art exhibit showing March 3rd to 30th, 2018 at the East Hawaii Cultural Center/HMOCA in Hilo. The exhibit is sponsored by EHCC/Hawaii Museum of Contemporary Art and the Hawaii District DOE, and staffed by volunteers. Prizes are awarded to students whose work wins jurors’ awards.

EBB & FLOW ARTS present FREE MULTIMEDIA SHOW!

On Saturday, February 17, 7:30PM, Ebb & Flow Arts will present a multimedia show at East Hawai'i Cultural Center, 141 Kalakaua St., Hilo.  Admission is free, donations accepted.
 
  • The show features, film, art, piano, poetry, and dance. 
  • Lee Michael Walczuk (Mountain View) and his son, Dominik Walczuk, will screen their original films.
