Hawai’i County Mayor Kenoi and Governor Abercrombie declares Saturday,July 19th Abled Hawai’i Artists(AHA) Day, held at the Hawai’i Museum of Contemporary Art, in Hilo - Saturday, July 19th 10am to 3pm!Artists with diverse abilities share their passion and sell their unique artwork.
For a lot of artists the business of selling their art does not come naturally. The unfortunate end of this reality stick often goes untouched because of inexperience, indifference or a classic case of avoidance behavior. Whatever the reason or excuse, if you want to make money from your art, or increase your profits, you need to know more about business fundamentals.
EHCC: Hawaii Museum of Contemporary Art announces its first ever “Summer Arts Exhibit” to held with its Gallery opening on Friday, July 4th at 5: 30 pm until 9:00 pm. This exhibit will be featured from July 5th until July 23rd FREE.
EHCC/Hawaii Museum of Contemporary Art presents the work of three local artists during the month of June; Rick Ryken, Julianna Ziegler and Steve Irvine. The show opens on the First Friday, June 6th, 5:30 pm through 9:00 pm, featuring live entertainment and refreshments, and continues through the month to Wednesday, June 26th. Each artist will be showing in a separate part of the main floor of the museum.

Avid silkworm hobbyist and respected Big Island biologist, Howard Takata will give a FREE lecture on May 10th at 10:30am on the joys and sustainability of sericulture for the Hawaiian Islands' agricultural community as well as future hobbyists. This lecture is meant to give an overview of the silkworm's life-cycle and needs, and will dovetail nicely with Akihiko Izukura's textile art exhibition, also at EHCC/Hawaii Museum of Contemporary Art in Hilo.
The East Rift Art Show showcases alternative art, such as tattoos and body art, automobile and motorcycle art, painted skateboards, body boards and surfboards, and unusual "found art" creations.
