HILO: Navigating Our Institutions’ Future

The Downtown Hilo Museum Square presents its 1st annual World Ocean Day event! The first in a series of quarterly community events to be put on by the Museum Square, WOD will take place in Kalākaua Park on Saturday, June 11 from 10:00 AM–2:00 PM. 

World Ocean Day (internationally on June 8), brings awareness to sustainable management of the world’s oceans and highlights the importance of ocean conservation education and action.

The Youth Arts Series: Holiday Art At Home Monoprinting Kits- SOLD OUT

ʻTis the season to make art! With our monoprinting kits you can create your own DIY greeting cards, gift tags, or unique works of art to keep for yourself or give as a gift this holiday season. These kits are fun no matter your age! 

All proceeds from the kits will go towards our Art & Technology Fundraiser.

Stop by for our Holiday Sale and support local artists! Whether you're shopping for gifts or for yourself, there are items for everyone. There will be items for sale from the Youth Arts Series, Dena Nakahashi, Monique Ortiz, and Kawelina Cruz, PLUS the Waiākea High School Key Club will be handing out free keiki art kits and YAS² will feature a free art activity for keiki and teens!

The Youth Arts Series Coloring Book

The Youth Arts Series (YAS) turned 5 in October! To celebrate this milestone we’ve created our first ever coloring book. The book is filled with fun pages to color in and enjoy. Each page was created by some of the artists who have helped to make the YAS program so special. In addition, the book includes artwork from 10 talented student artists. Their artworks were selected from our first ever Coloring Book Design Contest.

Join us in welcoming summer with a musical open house experience for everyone! Gamelan of the Molten Blossom (Gamelan Sekar Dahana) and So-shin Kai koto group will offer performances, hands-on exploration, and lots of opportunities for questions and answers as you learn about their unique musical instruments.

The open house will be held Saturday, June 5 from 10:00 am–2:00 pm in the EHCC Annex Building and the Bob Brown Gamelan Studio, both located behind the main EHCC building.
